The Emergency Medical Technician Basic class is an entry level class which introduces students to emergency medicine. Students will learn to use specialized equipment, basic patient assessment and other lifesaving procedures. Upon completion of this course students will be eligible to take the National Registry of EMTs Basic exam, and continue on to the intermediate level.
Prerequisites to the class: Shot records and both background checks listed on the home page. NO Felonies. TABE Reading Test. Students enrolling in EMT-B are eligible to receive VA assistance.

This program includes intermediate curriculum that leads to the paramedic curriculum. Upon completion of this class the student will be eligible to take the National Registry Exam at the intermediate level. This class is required in order to be eligible to enroll in the Paramedic class.
Prerequisites to class: Shot records and both background checks listed on the home page. NREMT Basics must provide copies of National Registry, Oklahoma State card; Must be EMT Basic prior to first day of class. Students enrolled in EMT-I are eligible to receive VA assistance.

Only students who have completed EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate and Anatomy and Physiology are eligible to enroll in this class. Upon completion of this class students will be prepared to take their National Registry test to become a licensed Paramedic. This class includes an 8 hour, physician taught airway management lab and skills instruction at OU Medical Center. This lab utilizes the latest high fidelity simulators as well as cadavers. Students enrolled in Paramedic are eligible to receive VA assistance and/or Pell grant.

Students will complete an in-depth study of human anatomy and physiology, including organ systems, fluid and electrolyte balance, growth and development and other areas of human anatomy. This course is required prior to enrolling in the EMT Paramedic course.

BLS HEALTHCARE PROVIDER CPR
This course is for healthcare providers and other professional rescuers, and is based on standards set by the American Heart Association.

CPR INSTRUCTOR
This class will equip a person to become a CPR instructor.

EMS INSTRUCTOR
This course will equip a person to become an EMS Instructor with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). Participants must have two years experience on an ambulance or on a fire department.
EMT REFRESHER COURSES
The following courses are refreshers for re-licensure/recertification for all levels of EMT.
EMT Basic Refresher: Tuition: $90. 24 hours.
EMT Intermediate Refresher: Tuition: $135. 36 hours.
EMT Paramedic Refresher: Tuition: $180. 48 hours.
This class is required before any other rescue class (ex. ropes, confined space, trench, vehicle extraction, etc) This is the OSU-FST version
